The Andrews Institute is hosting a great course in April 10 – 12, 2008.  "Injuries in Football Conference" and will feature a "military meet and greet" on Thursday evening the 10th of April.  We encourage you to attend!  More information can be found at http://www.theandrewsinstitute.com/

NATA files suit against APTA

From the NATA e-blast in February: "On February 1, 2008, NATA filed a civil lawsuit against the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).  The suit cites antitrust laws and other violations." There are AFATS members who may be affected by this that work in non-traditional settings for athletic trainers. This lawsuit is of particular interest to those who are dual credentialed as ATC and PT. Recognizing the potential conflict, NATA President Chuck Kimmel addresses this in a letter to its members: "Typically, the conflict does not exist between practitioners and colleagues in everyday work settings because each knows and values what the other brings to the table. Be proud of both your credentials; I acknowledge and honor them as do the rest of your fellow athletic trainers."

If your ability to practice as an athletic trainer has been affected due to unfounded claims or restrictions made by other professionals, we encourage you to contact the NATA. Stay updated on this important issue that addresses the athletic trainers' right to fair practice within the health care system. More information can be found on the NATA webpage.
