They can also be found at all U.S. Service Academies, with Navy Special Warfare, School of Infantry, Officer Basic Schools, Initial Entry Training/Basic Training Units, Recruiting Depots, Navy SMART Centers, Army Musculoskeletal Action Teams, and in several other areas within the military setting.

The AFATS Service Award honors an individual who has made significant contributions to improving the role of athletic trainers in the military setting. This individual has demonstrated dedication, loyalty, and service to the profession of athletic training and the Armed Forces Athletic Trainers' Society and its mission.

Terry Dewitt Internship Award
The Armed Forces Athletic Trainers' Society offers a $500 award to any athletic training student or AT who accepts a military internship. This award can be utilized to offset any costs associated with the internship. AFATS is proud to sponsor this award as well as the education opportunities of our membership.
